Welcome to the U.S.S. Ramses, NCC 82411!

The year is 2389 and the Federation is fourteen years removed from the ramifications of the Dominion War. Factions in both the Alpha and Beta quadrants continue to feel the tax from their common ex-enemy. The Federation has continued its rebuilding process and has transferred most of its resources into exploring the final frontier.

In the year 2387, the Hobus star went supernova. The resulting shockwave decimated the core planets of the Romulan Star Empire: Romulus and Remus.

Twenty seven hours after evacuation orders are given, billions lost their lives. Starfleet immediately ordered a massive relief effort to aid the Romulans. Thirteen years previous, Starfleet had created a class of vessel perfect for this type of situation.

Enter the Anubis-Class destroyer.

Originally, the Anubis was an accident. During its creation, the early stage of the vessel was deployed as a testbed for one-third of the powerful saucer section of the Prometheus-Class tactical heavy cruiser. The Anubis also incorporates an adapted stardrive and roll-bar section of the Akira-Class heavy cruiser. The Anubis is a destroyer aimed at performing the tasks of the aging Miranda-Class starships. It was put into full scale production in 2378.

Eleven years later, the United Starship Ramses, Naval Construction Contract 82411, has been constructed and fitted with the latest advancements in defensive systems, tactical armament and propulsion configurations for its duty on the Federation Border Patrol.

Commander Neferu Aten is the newly promoted Commanding Officer of the Anubis-Class, U.S.S. Ramses, NCC 82411, a member of Obsidian Fleet's Task Force 21-B: The Enforcers.

She will utilize her twelve year career as a Starfleet officer and command staff member, in cohesion with the skills of the ship’s crew, to go above and beyond the call of duty.

This is a unique starship that is smaller in stature but enormous in spirit. With a crew compliment of 103 personnel, every person must perform their job admirably and under tight knit circumstances. This is a NOVA based simulation that prides itself on quality writing and truly expressing oneself through the character that one writes for. The Ramses aims to use the Star Trek universe as an instrument to describe metaphors of real-world situations and stories and a love of science fiction.

The Ramses has been assigned to the Federation Border Patrol unit and is tasked with monitoring the Federation-Romulan border in the Typhon Sector, keeping the peace and interdicting where necessary. The Ramses must remain on duty to assist other starship that explore the Typhon Expanse. Between, patrol duties, the Ramses is tasked with transporting cargo, personnel, ambassadors and keeping to Starfleet's original mission of exploration, to seek out new life and new civilizations.

Some come on and boldly go...

You know you want to.

» Mission Update and Chief Ops

Posted on Sat Mar 30th, 2013 @ 1:17pm by Commander Neferu Aten in Sim Announcement

Greetings Crew of the Ramses,

I would like to welcome our new Chief Operations Officer to the Ramses: Lieutenant J.G. Kyle Nicole! I believe that the Ramses will be a great simming home for Mr. Nicole. Let us give him a very warm welcome!

Secondly, Ensign Gregor Plantis will be on extended leave of absence. Please be mindful of this.

Next on the agenda, is a...

=====/\===== MISSION UPDATE =====/\======

Lieutenant Reynolds, ship's counselor, and Dr. Talakarain, ship's science officer return from their journey to seek out an expert on the Kaleb System: Dr. Alice Garret. They have informed Commander Aten that the L114-A star system has been obliterated by a device encountered 122 years ago by the original Enterprise: the Doomsday Machine. Dr. Garret was presumed lost. Only her holographic assistant survived and was rescued by Reynolds and Talakarian. Commander Aten notifies Starfleet and is told that other vessels are being re-routed to the area. The Ramses is ordered to continue their investigation. The crew must now be on the look out for this "planet killer."

The Ramses arrives at the Kaleb System to find the Sunbird-class, U.S.S. Helios non-responsive and adrift above Kaleb IV. The Federation Outpost on Kaleb IV is also non-responsive outside of the repeating SOS distress call. Sensor scans of both the Helios and the Outpost have revealed no lifeform readings.

Aten assembles two away teams:

Away Team One will be heading over to the Helios to find out what happened to the ship and crew and get the ship back online. Post, Tyban and Kaufman will be apart of this away team.

Away Team Two is going down to the Outpost on Kaleb IV to investigate the distress call and what happened to the inhabitants. They will be taking the Argo Shuttle as they will need to use the Argo ATV as a ground transport to reach the Outpost due to the rocky and rugged terrain surrounding it. Reynolds, Talakarian, Anvers and Plantis make this team.

Commander Aten remains on the Ramses, awaiting findings from the away team and keeping an eye out for the Doomsday Machine. Calculations report one hour before it sweeps the Kaleb System.

=====/\===== END MISSION UPDATE =====/\======

Let's see some solo posts from the away team members about their specific missions!

Everyone is doing an awesome job aboard ship. I proud to write with each and every one of you. Any questions, my door is always open!

Stay amazing,

Aten

Greetings crew of the Ramses,

Let's being with the sad news. Nicholas Hunter has decided to take his simming journey elsewhere. We wish him the best in his writing adventures.

The brighter news is that we gain a new crewmember! Please join me in welcoming our new Chief Engineer, James Kaufman. I believe that he will fit in just nicely.

Next, so the votes are in and it looks like we will be continuing with the current mission. I have posted the mission notes for all of us to see the story so far. To access the mission notes, first login then click control panel --> 'Write Mission Post'. The mission notes will appear underneath the gold letters that say 'Write Mission Post.' There is a show/hide option, in blue, on the right side of the page.

Lastly, some mission updates. I would like us to get the two joint posts finished by the end of the week, if not sooner. And then by the beginning of next week - if not sooner - get some posts going about being on the Helios or on Kaleb IV. If anyone has any questions, please ask!

Everyone is doing an awesome job! Let's keep it up!

Stay fly,

Aten

And thirdly, we have our new Assistant Chief Security/Tactical Officer: Gregor Plantis!

Let's make sure they get a warm greeting as they will be jumping right into the mission.

As things stand, Hunter will be joining away team one, which is heading to the Helios. Anvers and Plantis will join away team two to Kaleb IV.

There are some joint posts going around to get our plot moving. Feel free in the meantime to post about your character's current whereabouts and thoughts about the mission.

Peace and Greetings Crew,

Our Chief Medical Officer has decided to transfer to another simulation. I wish her nothing but the best in her writing endeavors.

In some brighter news, the mission has been progressed. We will axe the Combat Drills JP and move ahead to the meat of the mission.

It's Away Team Time!!!!!!!!!!

I have created two away teams to investigate the Kaleb System situation.

Away Team One: Post and Tyban will be heading to the Helios in a shuttlecraft with other NPC'd away team members of their choosing. They are tasked with finding any crewmembers and getting the ship back online.

Away Team Two: Reynolds and Talakarian will be going down to the Federation Outpost in the Argo Transport; also with NPC'd members of their choosing. They are tasked with finding any colonists and locating the origin of the distress call.

I'll post the away team assignments in the mission notes section. Any questions, let me know.

Everyone keep your eyes peeled, the Machine might be out there!

Stay warm,

Aten

Peace and Greetings crew of the Ramses,

So, I regret to inform everyone that our Chief Engineer, Katie Banes has resigned her position aboard the ship. We wish her best in her future endeavors.

On the positive side, please help me welcome aboard Neil, who will be playing our new Chief of Tactical and Security: Tyban. He comes with lots of simming experience and will be a great writer to join the group.

We will continue with the Combat Drills JP as soon as our XO rolls the ball. Anyone without a character aboard ship, consider an NPC in your department or a completely different department : )

I will be progressing the plot in a few days!

I really want to thank each of you for being a part of the Ramses. It's not a ship without writers.

Stay Awesome,

Aten
